Abstract—Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are networks of vehicles either to directly communicate with each other or to have access to the Internet with base stations (BSs) along roads. As the number of cars is increasing every year, designing a scalable MAC to provide VANETs is getting more crucial. In this paper, we proposed an extended scalable MAC protocol. Our simulation results show the scalability of our protocols as it performs exceptionally well in very high density networks.
