A Web-Based Student Support Services System Integrating Short Message Service Application Programming Interface

Abstract

This paper presents the integration of ShortMessage Service Application Programming Interface in aWeb-Based Student Support Services System for a universitywould facilitate two-way communication between the students,faculty and other stakeholders. It aims to keep in contact withstudents and deliver significant information arising from theUniversity using the system’s SMS facility offering auto-replyfeature. Based on the survey, the respondents highly acceptedthe developed system. Thus, utilizing it as an alternative to theuniversity’s existing media of communication would enable thesystem users to avail of an effective and convenient manner ofgetting information from the university anytime. The manner ofdisseminating would become speedy, timely, and appropriate.Furthermore, using the system in an academe would result topaperless capturing, speedy recording and filing of students’records; standardized format of academic-related forms, timelydissemination and receipt of academic-related informationthrough SMS; and production of accurate reports.
