Abstract—After analyzing the basic theory of embedded
zerotree wavelet (EZW) coding algorithm, this paper brings
forward an improved method which rounds down the wavelet
coefficients and sets the coefficients appearing more frequent as
zero, so as to reduce scan frequency in algorithm and save the
storage space. Experimental results show that this algorithm
improves the coding efficiency on the one hand; and on the
other hand the quality of reconstructed image is also not
significantly decreased.
