Abstract—Traffic safety information broadcast from traffic
lights using Visible Light Communication (VLC) is a new cost
effective technology which can draw attention to drivers to take
necessary safety measures. This paper presents a VLC
broadcast system considering LED-based traffic lights. It
discusses the conceptual methodology for integrating traffic
light road side unit (RSUs) with impending intelligent
transportation systems (ITS) architecture. Results from a case
study of VLC system for information broadcast are also
presented.
Index Terms—Visible light communication, intelligent
