Preventing Data Loss in Linux-Based EtherCAT Master

Abstract
A receiving and sending algorithm is proposed toprevent the packet loss in Linux-based EtherCAT master. Thealgorithm is implemented by modifying the IgH EtherCATmaster stack module, and can be used in the applicationprogram for EtherCAT master. The performance of themodified EtherCAT master is verified by experimenting it withthe EtherCAT slave hardware provided from TexasInstruments Inc. Experiment results show the improved datathroughput as well as the compensation of communication jittercompared to the existing IgH EtherCAT open master stack.
